Either it is your personal life or business life, staying organised is one of the most crucial skill that each one of us need, especially when it comes to getting to our goals faster. If you fail to stay organise on daily basis then you will experience that you will be overwhelmed and you will not be able to accomplish by the end of the day. side effect is that it may make you look lot busier but won’t help you get anything done on time, instead you will face pile of unfinished tasks on day-to-day basis.
And On the other hand, if you manage to stay organise and make it your long-term habit then you will experience that everything that you do will happen like a clock work. by clockwork I mean, everything you do will happen by time and on the time, and as a result you will be highly productive and organised.
It is easier to say that “stay organised” but we all know how hard it is especially when things get over whelm, when so many tasks need to be done and you don’t have adequate support system. when I teach time management to corporate clients and other personal work that I do with my clients, I always first ask them to start with themselves.
Because organising is start from self, in working with clients what I have found is that there are two aspects of organising, one is self which is inside the human mind and other is outside the person which mostly are non-living things, for example, the computer, clothes that you wear, car, motor bike, office equipment or some other things. But all those things cannot organise themselves it has to be organised by the person who want to stay organise.
That’s why it is really important to organise each and every thing in the mind first, as there is a saying “clutter desk is a reflection of clutter mind” similarly, dis organised tasks or days are reflection of disorganise person.
Now what I mean is that one must organise his thoughts in sequence to that task, if it is not in the sequence or if you don’t have sequence to do the task or tidy up your office then outer tidying up won’t serve you long. Even if you hire a person to organise your office or house, still you have to rely on that person instead of you being that person who is organised by himself.
That is why it is really crucial to focus on self when begin organising, because what I found by working with clients is that most people who are dis organised, they don’t know what to on day-to-day basis and they don’t have any long-term goal and more interestingly they are not goal oriented at all, they stay in the wonder land of day dreaming.
Well, goals is deep topic and I will talk about goals in my separate post, but for now let’s stay focus on being organised so that we can stay organised. So being organised require inner work, because that’s where the root cause is most of the time. Most of the time there is the part of us who want to stay organised but there is part of us who do not like organising things simply because it has some other positive intention and it is fulfilling it’s positive intention by not doing so. That is why it require assistant from NLP coach to handle that inner issue, which I do when I work with my clients.
And you can contact me when you are ready to make changes, for now, I am going to teach you something very effective strategy that you can apply it to stay organise.
Effective Strategy To Stay Organised
Now, it is not simple as eating a chocolate cake, but still, it is, all it requires is your willing ness to learn and use it with a little bit self-discipline. Yes, that’s all what is required to stay organise with this simple strategy.
So let me help you realize how this strategy work by teaching you in a specific context , so let’s start with organising your desk, so first identify how many items do you need on the desk in this moment while you are working, and then decide the their place on the desk, and simply place them on it’s place, now when you finish using those items on the desk let’s say it’s your end of that day, then must put those items back in the same place from the desk where you took it from in the first place. So let’s you picked your important file from left corner of your desk, and it’s your end of the day or break then put it back on the left corner of the desk. And when you completely done with that file then put that back where you picked it up in the first place.
Now let’s take a look at another example, let’s you want to organise your day, means you want to allocate certain time for certain tasks, so you simply write down each task on paper and identify what to do, and when that needs to be done, then simply identify where do they fits on your daily agenda list and place it there, not only on the paper, but also in your mind, so put those tasks in the sequence and go through the day according to that agenda. And when you finish your day instead of carrying some unfinished tasks in your head, put them back on the daily agenda list for the next day. so now you can relax and have the sense that you have accomplished something by the end of the day.
So this strategy is really simple, that first you should know what you need and then put them in it’s right place and then once you are done with that then put it back where it was before.
Now, these two examples may sound little bit different for this strategy but choose these examples on purpose so that you can realize that either it’s your daily tasks or your desk files all should return to it’s place by the end of the working day, so you don’t have to carry all the burden and clutter.
So you picked your tasks from the list, so by the end of working day leave it on the list, so you can relax your mind, and de clutter your inner self.
I know it may seem little challenging at first but with self-discipline you will actually be doing it easily starting now.
